Sad Sadder Saddest

Let's take a break from baseball and talk a little about our economy's woes. Cub fans need a lift (sorry, couldn't resist).

I tuned into the VP debate last night and was pleased to see that neither candidate committed any errors (unlike the FOUR the Cubs made last night). Palin showed she can rehearse very well. She learned her lines without fail. She didn't, from what I saw live, offer up anything new.

Biden didn't put his foot in his mouth, but did show he is human. When the candidates were talking up families sitting down together, he got emotional reminiscing his family's tragedy.

I didn't hear much about the economy. One of my blog heads, people who read me regularly, gave me some great economic data. Giuseppi, not his real name or ethnicity, put together the following numbers.

Dow Jones industrial average:
Clinton Administration
Jan 4, 1993: 3310.03
Jan 3, 2001: 10945.75
(330.68% Gain)

Bush Administration
Jan 4, 2001: 10887.36
Sep 29, 2008: 11143.13
(About a 2.35%) gain

So while Clinton was getting it up in the Oval office, so was the Dow on Wall Street.

But wait, there's more!

The Dow Jones has fallen over 2300 points in the last year.

The above stats can be found at Yahoo Finance.

Ok, no suprise that our economy needs a mango (watch video to understand).

Our leaders are trying to save the day with a $700 billion economic rescue plan. They understand this is A LOT of money, but it needs to be spent. I've heard the arguments both for and against. I'm assuming that $700 billion will be well spent. (If you know me, you know I'm setting up a contradiction.)

Those caring politicians, not wanting to waste our money figured, "Who will notice this, out of $700 billion?" Note the following Pork Additives;

The special provisions include tax breaks for:

  • Manufacturers of kids' wooden arrows - $6 million.
  • Puerto Rican and Virgin Is- lands rum producers - $192 million.
  • Wool research.
  • Auto-racing tracks - $128 million.
  • Corporations operating in American Samoa - $33 million.
  • Small- to medium-budget film and television productions - $10 million.

In total, they are including about $112 billion in pork.

$112 billion in pork.

$112 billion in pork.

Imagine what these clowns would do if there wasn't a crisis. Before, it was just Clinton, but now we're all getting screwed.

However, during the Clinton reign, the majority in the house and senate was republican. Now it's democrat. The president doesn't make laws/policies, the house and senate do.

So you can thank the republicans for the good times and the democrats for the shitty ones. I do. But then again, I get all my news from the screen on the elevator.

Biden is as phoney as a three dollar bill. He has stated that his wife and child were killed by a drunk driver when in fact that was not the case.

The family of the man that was involved in that accident has came out and said that they wish Biden would tell the truth. Since Biden has a history of lying I guess that isn't possible.

Do I think he was hurt by those deaths and that they still effect him? Yes. I just think it is pretty low to distort the facts.

Sarah Palin came across as a normal everyday person. Joe Biden came across as the arrogant elitist snob (that is why elitist snob Obama chose him) that he is.

Uh Justin, I have never seen a quote from Biden saying it was a drunk driver killing his wife and child. Show me where.

Biden did actually say this. However, he has backed off those claims since 2001. So, while accurate, this bashing is as stale as Palin's hairdo.

The fact that Biden said this at ALL no matter what the time frame shows his true colors. I also like the fact that he himself stated that Obama isn't qualified to be President.

BTW, nice botox job there Joe.

Justin, even though he said it so what. Have you ever lost a loved one in an accident?
Sarah has a bunch of lies too that she flip flopped on. Bridge to nowhere anyone.
Seriously Justin, if McCain died would you feel comfortable with the Alaskan MILF in charge?

During the first 4 years of the award winning Bush reign, the majority of the house and senate were republicans. A president's dream come true! If those were such good times, why aren't they still around?

Oh yeah, here is another one for you. (Watching his IRA lose more value today)

NASDAQ:

1/4/93 - 677.21
1/3/01 - 2616.69

1/4/01 - 2407.65
10/6/08 as of noon est - 1837.76

My math is fuzzy sometimes, but it sure looks like the NASDAQ is at about 76% of where it was Dub's took over.

Blame who you want, but when the team is failing, fire the coach, the assistant coach, the special teams coach, the - well everybody.

Players have talent, but it is the coaches who foster the talent and encourage growth. If the team has a good coach, the players perform at their potential. If your passing game is subpar, don't fire the head coach and replace him with the quarterback coach, that doesn't make sense.

Well said Giuseppi
