Has It Been That Long?

Time flies when your doing stuff. How are all of my readers, you, you, you and you in the back?

So many things have been going on and I'm lousy at prioritizing everything. My work takes a bulk of my time, then my family.

Wait! That sounds bad.

Obviously, my family is my number 1 priority. During the work day when my family is away is when I'm juggling a variety of accounts. I don't mind being busy, but I do wish I could be more organized.

Since my last post we have seen the Olympics, Spring Training is in full swing, Washington DC is swinging away, but nobody wants to hit anything.

I have to brag on my son here. It's no secret how much I love this kid. Well, since he started school we've known he has issues with his excess energy and concentration. We have been listening to many experts on how best to help him. At times it has gotten quite overwhelming. In a span of one week, four different books had been recommended. We had to kind of pick and choose from all the materials what we felt we could do and what we felt could best be a help. The last few weeks have been a pure joy. Seeing my son actually getting it and understanding what we are trying help him with has been the best part. I'm not saying my son is perfect or better than anyone, or that all his problems are solved. I wish I could have taken his picture when he had correctly read his biggest words yet of the school year.

My boy is also playing real little league baseball this year. No more Tee's and no more coaches pitching. This also meant he needed a protective cup, league rules. Explaining this piece of equipment is not as easy as one might think. A "cup" to a six year old means only something you drink from. Telling him he needs to put a cup over his privates brings a variety of images to his little mind. After explaining the whole concept he was OK with the protector. He did tell us later that he thought we meant like a Dixie cup or a juice cup. I'll admit it was kind of funny trying this new equipment out. Mommy can't help and Daddy, well let's just say playing video game sports as a disabled child never required me to wear a cup. But, being a smart man I was proud to help my boy protect his "future".

Opening Day is April 17th. He plays on the A's. I'm so glad he wasn't drafted by the Cubs. I'll keep you posted on his team's progress as the season goes on.

Just When You Thought It Was Safe

My fellow readers. Today I have read something which has turned my stomach. Let me share with you the following.

"The number of children who are born subsequent to a first abortion with handicaps has increased dramatically. Why? Because when you abort the first born of any, nature takes its vengeance on the subsequent children."

"In the Old Testament, the first born of every being, animal and man, was dedicated to the Lord. There's a special punishment Christians would suggest."

This is not a quote from the 1300's or from the 1600's. It is not a quote from Nazi Germany of the 1940's. It is a quote from February 22, 2010.

It is not a quote from a deranged lunatic bunkered down in some commune with 40 wives. It is not a quote from Adolph Hitler or Charles Manson. It is a quote from a Republican Delegate of Virginia, Bob Marshall.

This "man" had the gall to say disabled people are a punishment from God.

He was trying to say that when people have abortions of their first born child any disabilities of future children come from God as a slap across the face.

ARE YOU F'in KIDDING ME!

I'm not going to get into an abortion debate here, because that is not what this is about. This about an elected official in public stating the disabled are a skid mark on God's undies. (Ok, he didn't say that, but I'm really mad.) How does a disabled person stand a chance for equality when an elected official thinks like this.

I don't live in Virginia, but I am demanding this fool step down and admit that he is a horse's ass.

When I went to learn more about this pod of human cells, his website was already backpedaling and hitting the spin cycle.

A story by Capital News Service regarding my remarks at a recent press conference opposing taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood conveyed the impression that I believe disabled children are a punishment for prior abortions. No one who knows me or my record would imagine that I believe or intended to communicate such an offensive notion. I have devoted a generation of work to defending disabled and unwanted children, and have always maintained that they are special blessings to their parents. Nevertheless, I regret any misimpression my poorly chosen words may have created as to my deep commitment to fighting for these vulnerable children and their families.

He doesn't deny what he said. He's just sorry he used the wrong words. I feel so much better.

Any person who looks at a sector of the world's population as a vengeance of nature, in my opinion, is not fit to represent any people. If an elected official were to say African-Americans were sub-human, there would be outrage. If an elected official were to suggest that woman are property of men and should remain subservient, there would be outrage. If an elected official were to say homosexuals were spawns of Satan, there would be outrage. Well, this elected official has said something that demands outrage.

I would ask that if comments such as these bother and offend you, please contact the source and ask him to step down
