NIU, I TOLD U SO.

Well, I really don't like being one to say, "I told you so", but "I told you so".
Here we have yet another senseless murder suicide slaughter of 5 students and one yo-yo. My apologies to all decent law abiding yo-yo's out there.

I wrote a blog back in October about my hatred for guns. I predicted this would happen and it will happen again as long as guns are accessible to lune bags.

The students that were killed and injured were not a threat to the shooter. The shooter was not defending himself nor was he hunting caribou, deer, possum, bear, or wildebeest. Those are always the biggest reasons gun lovers regurgitate when talk of gun control comes up. I'm sorry, but if you can't be safe in an Intro to Oceanography class in the middle of farm country you cannot be safe anywhere.

Plus, we must not let this horrific event distract us from the horrific event that happened just 12 days earlier. Five women were murdered in a Lane Bryant store by an animal who didn't have the decency to kill himself also. That pig is still free to do as he pleases.

I know there are pro-gun owners out there that read my blog. They will have their well-trained rhetoric all ready for as to why they should have their guns. Save it, I've heard it all before. Here's a question for you.

Is it worth it?

Is your outdated right to own a gun worth the 178,000 unintentionable deaths caused by firearms in this century alone worth it?

Don't give me your arguments. Send your arguments to the families of the NIU students and the victims of the Lane Bryant shootings. If you can't find them just wait until a tragedy comes closer to your home.

"2.9 million people were injured and 42,636 people killed. About 115 people die every day in vehicle crashes in the United States -- one death every 13 minutes."

Does this mean you want to get rid of vehicles too!

Why put that picture with this?

TC,
Great stupid response. That attitude is why nothing ever moves forward.
Auto accidents and the intentional firing of a weapon cannot be compared.

Scott,
I sought a photo that displayed both the Reduplication's love for guns and that in anyones hands they are dangerous.

Then answer this...if we get rid of guns are people going to stop killing one another. And don't try to say there will be less loss per incident either, look at what happened on 9/11 and they did not use any guns did they?!

Blame the Republicans for guns. Typical. I guess if that loser at NIU had used a car to mow people down it would have been OK.

TC,

You're stating extremes. I didn't say if all guns were gone there would be no violence. No one in the world could have predicted 9/11. But, since 9/11 changes have been put in place to help prevent a repeat attack. Why can't changes be put in place to prevent guns from getting to the wrong people. And why do the guns available need to be automatic?
Hunters don't need to fire 100 rounds per second.
AND, less guns = less deaths.

Republicans have been feeding off the teat of the NRA for years. I don't blame them 100% for gun problems, but about 90%

I'll take my chances against a car in a lecture hall versus a gun any day of the week.

Killing people is never OK no matter how it done. Unless, your last name rhymes with tush you don't mind people dying.

The photo is bad taste.
Something to think about. The state of New Jersey (I think) has the fewest gun control laws. They have the least problem with guns.
Guns will never be stopped and tragedies like NIU will happen again unfortunately.

Your hatred for Bush really says it all. So much for that great diversity and open-mindeness that Democrats always talk about.

What happened in Dekalb has nothing to do with gun control. If every student in that room had a gun, the results would have been the same and probably worse because of friendly fire.
Scott is right to say that there is nothing that could have stopped this tragedy from happening unless someone was able to pick up on any signs before it occurred.

Bush has destroyed this country and our relationship with the world.
Cite me 5 reasons I should be happy about Bush.

Scott,
Yes, the photo is in bad taste, but so is the countries gun control efforts.

The massacres that have happened are unavoidable, but why can't we slow down the type of thing that happened in Burbank. Those cops were lucky.

You are right. When Obama becomes President all will be good. Radical Islam will see the error of their ways. Guns will disappear forever.

People from all around the world will once again love the USA. Citizen's like yourself will now not have to worry about your self-image as an American.

Obama will help Oprahize the world. Yeah!

Burbank is the perfect example why gun control laws are meaningless. Guns can't be stopped. It's not a Republican or Democratic thing.
I'm sure I could order a gun right now if I wanted. It can't be governed.
Bush is an idiot. McCain might be a bigger idiot. The world would be calmer had we stayed out of Iraq.

Terrorism isn't going anywhere soon regardless of who is in the White House. But, things have been made far worse in the last 8 years, especially since we went into Iraq.

Is OJ Simpson in charge of finding those WMD's along with Nicole's "killer".

I know no gun control is ever going to get these weapons off the streets. But, I'm also not going to turn away from the issue. That is what the NRA wants, apathy.

Gee, the fact that Clinton was asleep at the wheel for his 8 years had nothing to do with helping to embolden terrorists.

Let's blame it all on Bush. It is his fault that this loser at NIU shot those people. I bet he was even behind those murders at Lane Bryant.

As far as citing 5 reasons for you to like Bush, why waste my time? Your statements prove that you despise the man.

That is OK. To each his own. Can you do we one more favor and blame this snowy winter on Bush as well?

Anonymous,

I blame every elected official for the current status of terrorism, gun control, and poor economy. The fact that they all mushroomed under Bush's watch will be his legacy.

If you know me, you know I have an open mind. I'll give credit where credit is due.

So I again ask for 5 positives of the Bush administration. Not counting making oil companies richer than God.

Bush has proven time and time again that he is an idiot. He ran the Texas Rangers into the ground and he has ran this Country into the ground. He was given the Presidency with with both the House and the Senate majority. A President's dream. Rush Limbaugh was so proud he lost weight. The deficit had never been closer to being balanced, and the Country was in pretty good shape when it was handed to him. 911 wasn't an excuse for invading Iraq, rather it was a reason we got stuck with Bush for 4 more years. Now the Country is in a recession, the deficit is way out of control, and Rush has gained his weight back.
George at a school with his copy of a storybook upside down as a child reads the story to him. George looking through binoculars in Iraq with the lens caps on. How many more examples do you need? His own party trying to avoid him. His hand picked advisers leaving in droves. Did you see him being asked by the Republican candidates for help in their election bids? No. They don't want him near their campaigns.
Now he is borrowing money from China to give tax rebates? Can't he just leave early and go live on his ranch?
I lost count. Is that more than 5 reasons?
This guy will go down in history as one of the worst presidents ever.

I think that sums up the Bush legacy.
Do the Bush supporters wish to comment on the truth?
